Background, Purpose, and Project Achievements
This project aims to establish a new academic field and its application to life-innovation based on nano/micro-system realized by nano-bio-cell fusion technology through the collaboration with Swiss Federal Institute of Technology, Zurich. Significant achievements have been obtained in the area of; SWCNT-DNA fusion technology for the ultrasensitive sensors, Body on a Chip technology to realize a microfluidic system consists of cultivated 3D cells as a small organs integrate into a closed-loop medium circulation system for rapid drug screening and safety testing, an ultrafast method for observing single-molecule movement in the plasma membrane.
Future Prospects
A nano/micro-system realized by nano-bio-cell fusion technology has great potential. We will continue our effort toward the establishment of this field by strengthening the collaboration in both research and education with ETHZ.
