Background, Purpose, and Project Achievements

The aim of this program is to establish the COE (center of excellence) of the academic research networks for Sustainable Energy and Environment (SEE) of Asia. Economic and societal activities in Asia are growing rapidly, and the Asian academic network will play a key role in developing” new-energy” technology. This program organized the SEE FORUM meetings in Malaysia and Thailand, and succeeded in adopting the joint-research action plan at the last SEE FORUM meeting. The SEE FORUM, the center of which is at Kyoto University, has already launched several international joint research projects for realizing SEE.

Future Prospects

The framework for collaborative research and education between universities of Asian countries has been established through the SEE (sustainable energy and environment) FORUM activity. Next step is to promote the autonomous joint research activities between Asian countries for developing “New-energy” technology for SEE.
