Establishment of Protocol in Asian Precision Agriculture, Livestock, and Aquaculture for 9 Billion People’s Food Production
Project Gist
Aiming to establish Asian Precision Agriculture, Livestock, and Aquaculture for 9 Billion People solving problems on both food production and environmental conservation
Keywords
precision agriculture, informatization, 9 billion people, food production, environmental conservation
Background, Purpose, and Project Achievements
To solve problems in both food production for the next generation and environmental conservation, international discussions on cutting edge technologies were conducted in agriculture, livestock, and aquaculture. Especially effects and prospective views on mechanization, automation, sensing systems, and informatization in food production among researchers and technicians in Korea, Taiwan, China, Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia, Bangladesh and other countries. It was considered that this project SPIRITS would lead further discussions for transferring technologies in Asian countries because not only researchers but also company engineers in Korea, Taiwan, and Japan met together with Chinese company engineers at Beijing and discussed how to introduce the technologies into China.
Future Prospects
Although it was started that agricultural machinery have been introduced into Asian local agricultural fields with governmental financial supports, there are a few postharvest systems such as fruit and vegetable grading facilities with internal quality sensors. Since agricultural product grading facilities with quality inspection have very important role for saving the products especially in tropical zone countries, it is desirable to transfer the technologies on postharvest.

・Our laboratory mission is to develop photo-, image-, and sound-based bio-sensing technologies. The researches cover diversified areas from inter-molecular micro scale to macro scale such as bio-production, food production and informatization systems, medical-care and drug discovery technologies. In each production system, technologies aiming “minimum investment and maximum benefits” are studied.
