Acceleration of interdisciplinary research projects toward the organization of Joint Usage/Research Center for primate bioresources: Establishment of International Network Center for effectively using primate samples and materials

Project Gist

Promoting of International Joint Usage/Research by making the best use of primate bioresources

Keywords

materials and bioresources of primates, joint usage/research, intensive research network, database, globalization

Background, Purpose, and Project Achievements

The Primate Research Institute, Kyoto University has collected materials and bioresources (DNA, cells, and skeletons etc.) of thousands of primates for the past 50 years. By using these samples effectively and globally, advanced studies would be promoted more and more. In this project, we constructed intensive research networks for international joint usage/research of primate investigations. As a result, by using the systems, lots of new studies are intensively going to be established in many fields.

Future Prospects

We are planning to construct integrated database and a research supporting system for using materials and bioresources with the resident technical staffs.
