Background and Purpose

Particle physics studies the most elementary ingredients from which all of the materials. One of the most important issue in the current theoretical particle physics is to construct the ultimate theory describing the Standard Model and quantum gravity in a unified way. The aim of this project is to study theoretical aspects of future experiments and observations from the point of view of particle phenomenology and to reveal a connection between the inflation mechanism at the early Universe and the physics at the Planck scale (quantum gravity).

Project Achievements

Carrying out this project, a global network in particle theory community is formulated including National Taiwan University (NTU), Bern University, Wrocław University. etc. In particular, we have held four international workshops together with NTU and made a strong research connection. Through the organization and operation of the workshops, Tsumura and Yoshida are getting better as the project manager with experiences. Yoshida is adopted new grants for the Grants-in-Aid for Scientific Research (C) and SPIRITS (Interdisciplinary Type) as a principal investigator.

Future Prospects

We are making the constant progress in scientific research and planning further expansion of the international networks formulated under the SPIRITS program. We will strive to earn scientific research funds such as the Grants-in-Aid for Scientific Research (S), the Grants-in-Aid for Scientific Research (A), and also the Core-to-Co Program.

・He is eager to reveal the fundamental law of nature. In particular, he thinks that the recent discovery of the Higgs particle and the non-existence of supersymmetry at LHC strongly suggest the direct connection between the standard model and the Planck scale physics. He is now working on string theory and trying to get the ultimate picture of nature based on these ideas.
