Chaos and Integrable Structure of Space-Time in String Theory

Project Gist

Reveal the spacetime structure of String Theory from the viewpoint of integrability and chaos

Keywords

String Theory, Duality, Integrability, Chaos, Turbulence

Background and Purpose

It is of significance to reveal the spacetime structure of String Theory to derive our universe in which we are living. There are various possible scenarios, and it is a promising way among them to employ dualities between gauge theories and gravitational theories (string theories). However, no rigorous proof for them has been provided yet. It is quite important to proceed the research on them from the viewpoint of integrability and chaos.

Project Achievements

As the achievements of this research project, I have profoundly understood the spacetime structure of String Theory from the viewpoint of integrability, and then got the deeper understanding of chaotic motions of classical strings and branes. I got precious experiences through the organization of international workshops and managing international and interdisciplinary collaborations. One of the greatest achievements is that the strong research networks with Taiwanese, Hungarian, Polish and Swiss groups.

Future Prospects

I will energetically keep and extend further the international communications with Taiwanese, Hungarian, Polish and Swiss groups built up with this research project. By applying to Joint Research Projects provided by Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) as a representative for the Japanese side and gaining the research budget, I would like to make the research network further firmer.
