International Collaboration Research for Sustainable Water Resources Development and Water Security in Myanmar
Project Gist
Hydrologic predictions for sparsely gauged basins.
Keywords
Hydrology, hydrologic cycle, water resources, flood, drought
Background, Purpose, and Project Achievements
For a proper watershed development and water resources management, it is crucial to develop a river planning based on long term hydrologic observations. The observation network of rainfall and river stage in Myanmar is insufficient and the impact of climate change on water resources is an important water issue to be addressed. To improve hydrologic prediction in a sparsely gauged basin, we conducted a flash flood prediction research with researchers in Myanmar.
Future Prospects
We keep on research and development on hydrologic predictions in sparsely gauged basins and impact of climate change on water resources.
