ワークショップ概要

京都のシンポジウムは、『カポエイラ・アンゴラ国際交流イベント2014』（2014 年9 月5日～ 14 日）の一部として実施されています。プログラム全体としては、カポエイラを実践的に学ぶワークショップを計5 回、カポエイラの歴史や社会的役割を考察するシンポジウムを東京と京都でそれぞれ開催し、合計で340 名
の参加者となりました。

開催報告

今後の展望

本企画で、日本で初めて大々的にカポエィラが学術的に取り上げられることとなりました。様々な分野の専門家が集まり、議論する機会となったが、今後は今回の企画を礎に、議論を更に発展させる必要があります。そこから、生活の中での不公平の改善や、より人々が対等な社会を以下に構築していくかを、より具体的に考えていきたい。来年度には企画の結果を出版する予定であります。

ワークショップを開催しての感想・メッセージ

For the organization of this event it was really difficult to find counterparts from varied disciplinary background willing to join in the discussion. We tried to contact specialists from African studies, Sport studies, and Aikido. The reactions varied from an absence of response to the subtle suggestion that Capoeira was not directly related to Africa or that it was not representative of a sport. For the future organization of similar events, I think it would be really interesting to collaborate with specialists from medicine, biologists, or even primatologists. This would eventually contrast some specific cultural traits of the use and perception of the body, closed linked to gender and race, with the understanding of the body as a bio-physiological or natural component of the environment. In any case, it became apparent from the organization of this event that breaking apart with traditional disciplinary frames is still a difficult challenge that requires a lot of effort and preparation.

ワークショップで得たもの

京都で開催された本シンポジウムでは、アフリカや日本も交えたグローバルな視点からカポエイラについて分析が行われました。また、3 名の討論者より、フランツ・ファノンに関連するポスト・コロニアル論、ジル・ドゥルーズのマイノリティ論、越境による文化の接触・変容といった様々な視点が提示され、活発な議論が展開されました。本シンポジウムの前後には、聴衆も交えた形でカポエイラが実践されていますした。
