Shared Micro Mobility Vehicles: Acceptance and Potentials in Kyoto

研究者からの一言:We want to talk about the potential integration of shared light vehicles in daily travel routines

Shared mobility and electrification are two major trends in the evolution of transportation systems. Both trends meet at mobility hubs, where charging and parking of shared vehicles is spatially combined. The provision of station-based shared vehicle types have the potential to bring about positive impacts in various aspects, including reducing traffic congestion by decreasing the number of single-occupancy private car trips, lowering greenhouse gas emissions, and enhancing the accessibility and flexibility of mobility for different user groups.
Currently, shared e-mobility primarily includes electric carsharing, e-bike sharing and e-scooter sharing. Numerous companies and governments have already implemented pilot or full-scale shared e-mobility systems and are rapidly expanding their range of services.
With innovations in light vehicle technologies, new vehicle types can further foster station-based systems and help to satisfying a broader variety mobility needs. To facilitate the market penetration of different vehicle types (in comparison and in competition with own car ownership, public transport and cycling), it would be beneficial to acquire additional knowledge about the reaction of potential users and other travelers towards these services when integrating into daily travel plans.
Therefore, during the dialogue with citizens we want to show same different shared light vehicles and want to talk with them about the three question groups:

  1. Are people willing to adapt shared light vehicles into their trip routines (e.g. travel to work)
  2. Which factors influence the potential usage (distance to vehicle, price)
  3. What are safety concerns when using them
